(WGTD)---100 years ago in Kenosha, several industrialists, a banker and a department store owner got together to create the Kenosha Community Foundation---a non-profit that’s dedicated to connecting community wealth with the public good.
Speaking on The Morning Show this week, Foundation Executive Director Amy Greil noted that after 100 years the foundation's mission remains firmly in place. "We really want to be a hub for those of means (with) aspirations of charitable intent to find a way to connect their passions to our local community--to keep their resources local and in perpetuity," she said. "How do you give a gift and have a legacy attached to it so you can memorialize your story--your values--for the long term?"
The Foundation will be celebrating its centennial beginning on Tuesday Sept. 29th. with a series of ten events over ten days that are designed to highlight the foundation’s work and raise awareness. Some events have a "hybrid" component that will allow those interested to join online. More information, including registration links, can be found here.

Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 5-7: An opening reception to take place at the Apis Restaurant Rooftop.
Wednesday, Sept. 30th from noon-1: A discussion of the 'Sculpture Walk' project. KCF office.
Thursday, Oct. 1 from 5-7: (Sold out) A rehearsal of an orchestral piece titled "Lovers of Liberty" to take place in the ceremonial courtroom of the Kenosha County Courthouse.
Friday, Oct. 2 from noon-1: Hawthorn Hollow Nature Preserve discussion. KCF office.
Saturday, Oct. 3 from 3-6: Ceremonial courtroom dedication and reception.
Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1-3: "Streets of Stone, Steel & Music"--Ceremonial courtroom with a 1:30 performance of "Lovers of Liberty". Also, a focus on downtown murals and sculptures.
Monday, Oct. 5 from noon to 1: Kenosha Achievement Center discussion. KCF office.
Tuesday, Oct. 6 from noon to 1: Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency discussion. KCF office.
Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 5-7: Kenosha Innovation Center. "On Shoulders of Giants: Let's Change the World." Nick Pinchuk, Snap-on Tools CEO; Non-profit agencies highlight their work on the center's 2nd floor.
Thursday, Oct. 8 from 3-4: "Into the Second Century: Centennial Tree Planting" Kenosha harbor.
