Repurposing Plan Still Up in the Air for Former Church Building

Oct. 9, 2026 10:30a

(WGTD)---The new owners of the former Grace Lutheran Church building in Kenosha on 60th St. are in a holding pattern.

Kenosha Human Development Services bought the building last spring.

Executive Director Jeannine Field tells WGTD this week that they’ve been making some improvements to the building but haven’t decided yet just how to repurpose it. She offered no timetable.

The previous owner---the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America—had hoped the building would be used to provide various services to the neighborhood as did the church.

Grace Lutheran had operated a hospitality center that included a food pantry.
