(WGTD)---The owners of a beloved downtown Kenosha diner are hoping to reopen the place sometime this fall following a fire that occurred nearly two years ago.
Julie Zorn from the currently-closed Coffee Pot appeared before the city’s License and Permits Committee this week. She was seeking to secure licenses to sell beer and wine in a portion of the establishment that was least damaged by the fire, with hopes of a partial August opening.
Zorn said she and co-owner Janis Barnhill are looking to bring in some revenue as they continue to work with an insurance company and try to secure additional financing for the rebuild.
Zorn said the hope is that the full diner will be fully operational this fall.
Their request for wine and beer licenses was deferred to the next committee meeting because of some technical difficulties with the application. Committee members, however, expressed support for their efforts to reopen.
